On October 26-29, 2009 Sklad. Transport. Logistika’2009, the 16th International Exhibition for Logistics, Transportation, Automation and Mechanization of Storage and Handling Operations was successfully held at Expocentre Fairgrounds. The Show organized by Expocentre took place with the assistance and participation of the Russian Federation Ministry of Agriculture and the Russian Federation Ministry of Transport, and under the patronage of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation.
The Exhibition has proved to be popular, important and professionally focused that is marked by the labels of the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI) and the Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs (RUEF).
This year STL’2009 welcomed 150 participants from 11 countries, including 130 Russian companies and enterprises.
Such active participation of domestic companies confirms successful development of warehouse complex and improvement of transport and logistics services in Russia that is mostly encouraged by the STL exhibition.
The best products by the most renowned Russian and foreign industry leaders including BalkanCar Record, Fritz Schafer (Kravtel), KNAPP, Volzhskiy Pogruzchik, Eurasia Logistics, STS Logistics, Stellazhnye Systemy, Stelazhi Medved, FABS LogistiX and others were demonstrated in the space over 8 000 sq meters (gross).
At the same time in spite of the economic crisis new companies such as Unitechnik, East Express, MCLog, Hoheywell and others took part in the Show.
At the official opening of STL’2009 Deputy Director of the Food, Processing Industry, Agriculture Market and Production Quality Control Department of the Russian Federation Ministry of Agriculture S.N. Seregin on behalf of the Russian Federation Ministry of Agriculture welcomed organizers and participants of the Exhibition. He noted that “the exhibition subjects were of great importance for the Russian agroindustrial complex. The technologies and equipment demonstrated at the exhibition allowed optimizing the whole process of production: from a field to a counter, providing thereby the agroindustrial market sustainable development. The STL Show gave an opportunity to familiarized oneself with the latest achievements in the field of warehousing, transport and logistics to apply that to the agricultural products delivery to a consumer”.
In his speech at the opening ceremony of STL’2009 First Deputy Head of the Russian FCS Central Customs Administration V.I. Seleznev marked the Exhibition significance and relevance. He stressed that requirements to modern warehousing, transport complex and logistic services were very high. Progressive warehouse equipment, transport machinery and advanced logistics technologies should answer the purpose of the Russian foreign trade and national economy development. As a whole they should form the infrastructure satisfying the best foreign analogues. V.I. Seleznev expressed his confidence that everything demonstrated at the Exhibition would find the widest application, give an opportunity to develop the warehouse business, and to improve upon transport-logistics services.
Thematically the STL'2009 exposition was arranged in the following way: Warehouse Complex, Logistics, Transport Complex, Information Technologies, Communication Facilities and Navigation Aids, Customs Services.
The Warehouse Complex section showed design and construction of warehousing facilities as well as warehouse equipment and automated warehousing systems.
The Logistics Section presented electronic declaration, optimization and modernization of check-points solutions; projects and technique for roads; solutions for management of the passenger and goods traffic by land, air, river and sea transport; materials and environment monitoring technique; special cargo and agricultural goods storage, processing and conveyance systems.
The Transport Complex Section offered to logistics operators the latest solutions related to all kinds of transportation, including specialized transport and machinery. Insurance and leasing companies as well as financing programmes were presented there too.
The Information Technologies, Communication Facilities and Navigation Aids Section focused the specialists’ attention on the GPS/GLONASS satellite navigation systems; the traffic streams management; cargo transportation and storage safety systems; transport and information systems.
The customs brokers’ work as well as custom clearance at inspection and examination complexes was demonstrated in the Customs Services Section.
The STL’2009 programme of business related events was traditionally saturated and professionally arranged. A novelty of the exhibition was holding of thematic days: Customs Territory, Logistics Day and Warehouse Complex.
The International Conference on Prospects for Transport-Logistics and Customs Infrastructure Development in the Central Federal District organized by the Consulting Council under the Central Customs Directorate (CTU) of the Federal Customs Service (FCS) of Russia and the National Logistics Centre was held within the bounds of the Show.
Issues related to the current state and prospects for the transport-logistics and customs infrastructure development; implementation of the first stage of the concept of customs drawing up and customs supervision in the regions located nearby the national frontier; development of information technologies in the sphere of logistics and transport and other ones were discussed at the Coference.
Rewarding with diplomas of the Best Logistics Operators of the Region arranged by the Consulting Council under the Central Customs Directorate (CTU) of the Federal Customs Service (FCS) of Russia and the National Logistics Centre was held with the STL’2009 Exhibition.
Diplomas were presented to the following companies for application of new technologies to business: TRANSAERO, SOVTRANSAVTO and MOSAVTOTRANS (nomination the Best Carrier of the Region); NEFTEKHIMTRANS, UNITRANS and MOSTRANSAGENSTVO (nomination the Best Forwarding Agent of the Region); FIRMA CV PROTEK, SEVERTRANS, IRBIS and IKEA TORG (nomination the Best Logistics Operator of the Region); NORD-OST, SEVERNAYA ZVEZDA A&P, TS TRANSSERVCE and ROSTEK-Moskovsky region (nomination the Best Customs Broker of the Region).
The 7th Conference Supply Chain Management and Warehousing Technologies in Modern Business organized by the Coordination Council on Logistics, was held within the framework of the show. The following topics were discussed at the Conference: chain management in trade and manufacturing companies; optimization of costs in the supply chain; warehousing management in the supply chain; effective planning and the warehouse resource management; order processing in a warehouse and many other ones.
